I mean we all know that Magnus is strong, but the fact that he can still flash boulders that Adam fails to flash is just insane. Adam is the pretty much undisputed nr 1 of our generation and Magnus can still hang with him!

@Lawsong6 Yea I wasn’t sure. Definitely a possible interpretation.

@Tom Riddle I don't know why you'd think I was talking about age but I guess I can clarify if it was confusing. I meant that Magnus retired from competition climbing 6 years ago, and hasn't really been focusing on hard climbing since then. Sure he does a lot of general climbing content, but he doesn't really push himself by projecting really hard routes/boulders. Simultaneously he also does a lot of other wierd fitness stuff that should be to the detriment of his climbing ability. On the other hand, Adam has climbed more than 20 V15 or harder boulders and has topped more 9b+ routes then any other climber in history, three of them in the last few years and the last one just a few months ago. So he is obviously at the absolute peak of human climbing ability. Given all that, the fact that Magnus can still climb at a comparable level and even outperform Adam on some problems is astounding. Hope that clears it up.

A bit emotional watching this one. Last video I watched was your other Sheffield video and at the time I mentioned we were close by as my mum was in hospital in Yorkshire. Unfortunately she passed away on the 10th of February. She was really proud of my daughter who has just turned 7 and started climbing. She has been climbing a few months now and we usually watch your videos and Adam's videos together. We went climbing tonight in the northeast of the UK and she spent a lot of time talking about her Nanna. It's been a really emotional month but climbing helps her focus and talking helps her process the emotions. Watching videos together during mums illness was a big help for us both and gave us a lot of support. If you come back to the UK it would be brilliant if she could meet you both. I sent a message on Insta but appreciate you will get thousands. Thanks for another amazing video and this was probably one of my favourites to date. It felt very authentic and real. All fantastic guys and all inspirational. Thanks again

This is an amazing segment! The old footage of Ben and Jerry is from the "The Real Thing", a revolutionary video that completely flipped the script of what a climbing film looked and sounded like. It was the first climbing film that showed us the personalities of the climbers and gave a glimpse into their lifestyles . That coupled with a techno/house club music soundtrack made it look and sound like nothing that had been available before. It was not just another "RAD" action film, it was relatable to a new generation of climbers and set the tone for many films that followed.

Best climbing video I've seen in ages! This is the platinum standard for "all star cast". The casual tone and the filming is brilliant. I got so absorbed about halfway in, I fell into the mindset of being at the crag with mates. Then Jerry: "you want some tips Adam? Just pull really hard..." 😂 classic.

not to be "that guy" but magnus is not one of the best climbers in the world. he himself would readily admit that, i'm fairly certain. don't get me wrong. he's stronger than i could ever dream of being, and he's definitely in the top 99th percentile.... but when you are talking about millions (over ~25 million according to some estimates?) of climbers worldwide, being in the top 99th percentile, or even 99.9th percentile, doesn't make you one of the best. i mean just think about how many olympic climbers alone there are. and then you factor in how some of the strongest climbers to have ever lived aren't even competing these days... jimmy webb, daniel woods, nalle, shawn, etc... edit: LMAO i seem to have really upset all the salty gymbros who think they know everything because they watched a few youtube videos and started bouldering 3 months ago and just climbed their first v3. it's ok you guys can keep telling me why i'm wrong. i know you are wrong. and you know what's hilarious? i bet even magnus knows you are all wrong. and it wouldn't be out of a false sense of humility, it's because i'm sure even magnus himself knows just how good people are these days. there are people NONE OF YOU HAVE EVEN HEARD OF who are stronger climbers than magnus. and if you disagree with me, perhaps you should just take a minute and educate yourself on the world of climbing. it's a lot bigger than magnus' youtube channel.

@TD B in a climb where you can't risk falling there's really no sport at all. it's mad impressive in its own right, but in terms of technique or power or difficulty of climb free solo climbers are absolutely dwarfed. they don't care, though, because they climb for themselves. to lump them in with top sport climbers is disrespectful both to them and to the sport climbers

This is one of your best videos, Magnus. It's so amazing to see you and Adam travel back in time and try hard on all those problems. ☺
Gabriel Mello Fernandes
When Magnus was able to flash "Stuey Five Bellies 8A+ (V12)" 15:22 , I just screamed "F*ck yeah!". Really impressive, man! Adam is such a great climber, but Magnus keep reminding me of how good he can keep up with the best. I guess I will need to try harder next time I go to the climbing gym :) Thanks for the video!

The caption here was incorrect. The problem is "Stuey Five Bellies" named after the climber Stuart Cameron.

@BranwellHaworth Thank you for mentioning it, that is very interesting :) I will edit my comment to correct it as well.

Hey Magnus, I am a Industrial Climber (not sure if you have something similar in Norway, and in certain cases it is very different from Climbing and more Rope Technique, but I would really love to see you do a Crane or Phone Tower Climb, hear your input and see how you feel about climbing metal structures like that, at in-door jobs in factories, climbing steel beams or so, you'd probably do amazing! :)

What a video. Your channel just gets better Magnus. And to me, your climbing is too, seeing you flash some of those old school problems is just phenomenal. So cool to see the respect you both show to Ben and Jerry, two legit legends.

This is one of my all time favourite videos from you, Magnus. Hard climbing, legends from across generations. Really cool vibes.

I love how excited Ondra is about his holds. Magnus flashes his set and he's so excited he has to try it himself before he says a word.

This was an amazing video, especially to me who's younger and been climbing for only a few months. Seeing how everything started, and you guys climbing problems that were there even before I was born!

Really cool video and really well done. Awesome to have a video like this that's really a historical climbing type of thing and it's put together very well. For those curious the vide produced for Adam's channel is worth a watch as well, lots more outdoor footage to see there.

I really smile watching these videos. It's the respect and camaraderie, it's so heart warming and reminds me it can be great to be human. Adam's smile and the enthusiasm in his voice is so endearing.

Moffat is SO invested in the success of others, both in this video but also in the vintage campusing clips. Fascinating.

I’ve been watching the channel for a couple of years and this is possibly the best episode I’ve watched. Fantastic seeing the old footage and perspectives from living legends and then Adam Ondra taking on the routes. Amazing stuff! I also didn’t know the origin of the Moon board.

This is like hallowed ground for climbing, and to be able to climb with your rock stars, must be like a dream come true! Well done video and really provided us a good glimpse of climbing culture back in the days!

Amazing video. Thank you so much for this! It’s so great to watch you climbing hard again. For future ideas, I’d love to see you training with Alex Megos or the Nagasaki brothers 👀

This was cool to hear about the old days in climbing! Some unique perspectives I've never got to hear!

Incredible Magnus! Thank you for making climbing history content! You should also check out some of the historic rock by them. The Face 8a+ in the Altmühltal was the first 8a+ in the world by Jerry

This was such a special video. I can just imagine that in 20 years time there will be two new top climbers (maybe one of them is theo blass?) filming a similar video with some of the legends of the past, and it could be you and Adam in Jerry & Ben's shoes. It's beautiful, and so special.

I loved this video and the lingering atmosphere of old school climbing that Ben and Jerry keep very much alive with their ball busting, encouraging, attitudes. You can really get a sense of, and appreciate, the environment that they cultivated from a different generation of climbing community.

One of the most interesting videos you've done in awhile. Great to see the interaction between the current and older generations. I always enjoy when you do videos that dive into climbing history.

Wow Magnus. This is the best video so far this year. I think seeing the school house and its small enclosure for the climbing boards made it very approachable. I could really see myself going through the motions like you and everyone were. This is one of very few videos where I was really "biting my nails!" The other videos in the big gyms can be a bit overwhelming due to their size and amount of people and I didn't get the same level of anticipation from those videos that this video brought! I hope you make more videos visiting older climbers and the places they trained in. It was good seeing some history, but unlike a museum where you can't touch anything, you can still climb and actively participate, reliving the past. Thanks.

This is maybe the best video Magnus has ever made. History, great vibes, great climbing, amazing cast of guest stars. I would love to see more. Maybe find other members from past generations to show you their old projects and climbs. Would love to see colab with Alex or Shawn R as well!
