The last part of the video at the supermarket is in fact in Beirut, Lebanon, and neither in Syria nor in Turkey. We felt the earthquake in Beirut at a magnitude of 3.8M, and it lasted for around 45 seconds. Then, smaller shakes followed after 4 minutes. Prayers for all the losses and those injured everywhere.

This is terrible. I grew up in California and have lived through major earthquakes. The difference is California and other earthquake prone areas have retrofitting for buildings so that they do not collapse like this. I hope that going forward the building standards in Turkey will include architectural regulations for seismic conditions. It saves lives.
