According to Shaquille O'Neal, LeBron James doesn’t have to win another title to become the GOAT. All the King simply has to do is pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer to go with the four championships he’s already got, and Shaq said he'll be cemented as quote 'the best player ever.' Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss how much they believe getting the record will help convince doubters that LeBron is the GOAT.

False bill Russell admitted he was 6"10 and bill Russells post season stats are not better than wilts overall no one's are better!! Bill Russell never outplayed wilt. The Celtics had 11 hofers or more. Team strength matters wilt was the better player.

No. Now I've always thought Wilt saying he stopped shooting was maybe an excuse for the fact he deteriorated. As much as I cheer for him as goat. So I finally did this I compared his points at 13.4 yrs or so and Kareems at 13.4 yrs or so total. I got Wilt 31,419 Kareem 28,938. I thought that's not much a difference so I looked at wilts overall stats in 1965-66 he stopped taking as many shots just like he said he did and his assists on average started going up each yr for awhile. So I thought wilt didn't lie he did stop scoring on purpose wow!! So I went and compared only there first 7 yrs to see the points difference. Wilt 21486 vs Kareem's 16486. That's a big difference and I thought well since the pace of the game gradually got slower if wilt played 20 yrs and never stopped scoring to make more assists he'd have atleast 2500 to 3000 more points than Kareem now most likely. People say longevity blah blah. Wilt was a dominating force in volley ball well into his 40s and he was running marathons at 62 etc. So yeah wilts the greatest scorer and player with his defense all-time.

@Only Facts lol ur acting like lebron hasn't played back to backs. Bahaha guy u ran.... mj had back to back... SEASONS OFF .... MULTIPLE TIMES before age 37... lebron missed ZERO seasons 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣. MJ came into the league at 21 not 19. He played till the Finals almost HALF as many times as Lebron has lol. Lebrons played 90% of a season MPRE TIMES than MJ. Yet all u can reply with is lebron played 92 games one time stupidly acting like playing 70-80 games in a season has zero affect 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣. Lebron played a condensed season (where they had to glad 4 lr 5 games in a week lol) RIGHT AFTER playing a playoffs then having the shortest offseason in NBA HISTORY. But hey I showed u this & u ran & just repeated yourself. Just like u ran from the 5+ things I proved u wrong on. @Only Facts so now since u got cornered u aren't even TRYING to come back at the facts shown to u. Got it 👍 U were shown wrong about All Defense. Were shown wrong about age having no affect no matter the era. Were shown wrong about using Rondo/Schroder/etc. Were shown wrong about Drummond. Were shown that ur 82 game argument is dumb as can be & u were shown Lebron joined the league at 19 I stead of 21, lebron didn't take 5 seasons off between age 30-38 whike MJ DID TALE OFF, Lebron played till the Finals almost TWICE as many times (when MJ himself said playing in 3 straight wore him out physically & mentally & he NEEDED a break), etc. Yet ur reply is talking about mj playing 92 games compared to lebron playing 70-81 games 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣. Were shown wrong about what u left out about the 2019 Lakers. Couldn't show a single thing after claiming I lied & was challenged to show where I did. I love it... this is what u Lebron haters resort to once shown facts u can't disprove... u just start dodging everything & ranting like a 7th grader making no sense. Kid go study some ball & come back & actually go at the facts I showed ya... pretty ur just admitting u can't 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

@J972M I know. Its complicated. Honestly, in my eyes, the solution is to categorize the BEST players in EVERY decade. 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s, etc. The BEST in each decade voted by fans, officials, players/coaches, journalists. Split 25% so there's no single party responsible. I might be wrong or it just plainly doesnt work but that's my idea anyways. Who knows if someone else can come up with a better way.

@Coach OBI'S Personal Workout Tips Also in that game 1 of the NBA Finals Lebron James charged into Kevin Durant in the final seconds of regulation. This caused the game to go into overtime after Kevin Durant made his free throws he got for Lebron charging into him. Golden State went on to win that game 1 in overtime. In other words in clutch time in game 1 King James did an offensive foul " trying to be like Mike". ( Michael Jordan that is). Lol 😂 😂

@Marko Ligaya I don't understand why you are talking to me about Teams? Shaq talk about players in this sequence. In the 80s and 90s the staffs built teams around their star player and the Bulls are no exception to the rule. Through drafting and recruiting new talent, the Bulls have become one of the greatest teams of all time. I take nothing away from the team or the other teams. At the time, we did not build a Superteam to succeed. Michael didn't need to sign any all-star players except for Rodman in 1995. Pippen was trained by the Bulls and Michael. And before the controversy, Scottie confessed that he would not have become who he is without Mike. As for eras, for me, but I admit it's subjective, my love goes for the 80s/90s because the competition was rougher, there was defense, rivalry... Now it's too soft, everything is based on attack, defense is only incidental... I find the game much less interesting than before, but again, that's just my humble personal opinion. As for talent, I think there's as much now as before except that the game is different, it's based on attack. And for me it's easier to find one-dimensional talents than complete athlete capable of playing a rough game. And finally I answer a question that does not necessarily have an answer. Everything is subjective, the heart speaks, the experience too. I'm not a Lebron fan but I have a lot of respect for the player and especially for the human. But in terms of the sporting, athletic and mental aspect, for me Michael is a much better player and no one comes close to him. Shaq says breaking Kareem's record makes Lebron the GOAT. I'm just saying I disagree. If I can talk about sprinting and athletics, the greatest runner of all time is Usain Bolt and yet he didn't have the longest career like Carl Lewis.

But they are both absolutely tremendous accomplishments in their own rights for sure because to be the all time leading scorer means that you're durability was just incredible. LJ is alltime leader in scoring if combining the regular season with the playoffs no doubt so that is a phenomenal accomplishment. Did we forget when Brady won his 5th and 6th ring? It was impossible to not have him over Montana as the GOAT. What is the point of professional sports? To be really good for the regular season or to bring your city a championship? 4/10 is not great. No one was calling Brady the GOAT when he was 3/5 in SB cause montane was 4/4. But now that he is 7/10 it’s undeniable. If Lebron was 6-7/10 then people would concede. Cause sports isn’t about being the best regular season team. It’s about winning that ring I mean if you had $100k bet on a team to win in the finals would you pick Lebron or MJ? Think about it this way…. If Russell Westbrook ended his career rn with these triple double seasons, Is he even top 5? Now what if he was 6/6 in the finals w/ 6 final mvps?

Karl Malone 7th with 4761, Jerry West 8th with 4457 soon to be passed by 9th Durant at 4454! Durant if he stays healthy has a chance to get 2nd!) is even more impressive then the #1 scoring record or getting 40,000 points. He’s already scored 22% more then anyone else in playoffs (5987 to 7631) and will only build on that! Both impressive but playoffs even more impressive to me.

Wilt is by FAR the most dominant player ever. Wilt dominated the game like nobody before or since, including Jordan. To me, by my definitions the "best" player every is not only the most dominant but also the greatest at a variety of skills. Wilt was the best shot blocker, the best rebounder, the best scorer and the best defensive player. He even led the league in assists in 1967-68 !! Jordan never lead the league in assists! Wilt could dominate the game at EITHER end of the floor, defense OR offense. Jordan could not dominate a game defensively the way Wilt could. Finally, one cannot base the GOAT argument soley by winning championships and the reason is that basketball is a TEAM SPORT. If one is unlucky in that one is surrounded by sub-par players, coaches or ownership then it adversely impacts the project of winning. For this reason we have to look at the context before judging a player just on winning.

I dont know why they keep having this debate. Jordan or other players dont even claim to be the Goat
I honestly think LeBron can get too Ring 6, back too back rings BUT, after this year the Lakers HAVE TO trade Westbrook & surround LeBron with Shooters that also can defend. Get Buddy, get back Pope, Caruso etc. I would also trade Dwight & get a better big man that can make FT's and is a 3 shooter & defender. I dont know, hopefully the Lakers learn after this year. I never liked that they picked up Westbrook, I mean Westbrook can be good but he needs to come off the bench or put his ego aside as a starter & let an actual PG run point. That's how they win the chip.
If lebron gets the lead scoring, fmvp, and a ring then I'll sat he the GOAT. If it's just the scoring leader than no. MJ still the goat. Kareem had it all this time but only to most ppl they have him in top 5 and rarely at 1.

Some People believe that ( Kareem) is the best basketball player of all time including (High School, College, and Professional!)! I agree with those sentiments and I believe the MJ is the man that revolutions the game of basketball! Kareem has six MVP's, six NBA championships, and he only lost two games between high school and college! MJ won six NBA championships, and he is a ten time scoring champion 🏆, and he has a (NCAA Basketball Champion 🏆 at UNC)! I don't want to compare Lebron against Mike, but I love watching (Lebron) and I truly appreciate the greatness of a kid straight out of Highschool that has accomplished so many!! The word that always comes to mind to me is opportunity whenever this conversation is being had. Every time you step on the court there's a new opportunity to put points up! Michael Jordan put up 34,000 points in basically 13 years.because he broke his foot in year two.. and in 1995 he only came back with 17 games left to play. For the Lakers to win a NBA Championship this season with Russell Westbrook, they must do these things: 🤠 1) Let Russell Westbrook get 35-40 minutes a game and be the undisputed point guard 👉 2) Lebron needs to conserve his minutes to help for the playoffs. He needs about 25-29 minutes a game 😎 3) Anthony Davis needs to become the leading scorer with about 30 points a game and 40 minutes playing time giving LeBron rest. 👍 4) Russell Westbrook and LeBron needs about 25-28 points a game 😬🤐🤫🤠 5) Russell Westbrook needs to play his style with rebounding and hustling defense 6) A.D. needs to get 12 rebounds per game 7) Dwight Howard needs to play great defense and at times go 17 rebounds and 17 points too 🤨🧐 8) Rajon Rondo should be point guard number 3 behind point forward LeBron averaging about 7 assists 😁 9) Role players need to diversify scoring nightly and shoot less threes for more quality mid-range 😑 10) The Lakers have to trust Russell Westbrook as point guard and so does Lebron 👉 11) Let Russell Westbrook be Russell Westbrook 🤡🤡 12) Forget about playoff seeding and focus more on playing any team . Welcome it‼️

For the sake of argument, let's say that LeBron James goes on to win 7 championship titles, 6 regular season MVPs, 7 finals MVPs and miraculously given his age 2 Defensive player of the Year awards before he retires. From a purely statistical stand-point that would put him ahead of MJ but he would still fall short to match MJ’s 10 scoring titles. Now, let's put away the accolades, # of chips won, awards given and selections by voters, records set and broken, regular seasons and playoffs stat averages etc. and look at it from a "Peak Value" standpoint. To draw an analogy, if Basket-ball was a software program well, so far, MJ has added the biggest piece to its source Code. And, it's not even close.. At the apex of his craft (88-93) his contributions to the development of modern Basket-ball and consistent domination over his peers in their prime in terms of technique, skill level, execution, finesse, creativity, aerial assault, signature unguardable moves, offensive and defensive IQ, and approach of the perimeter game are simply just unmatched. No other pro player in the last 50 years as brought as much novelty, standards and excitement to the game and inspired generations of players globally like he has. 🐐🔒

Shaq has always been my favorite player but he is very wrong on this. So he's going to base it off of career points?? Jordan played 3 years at north Carolina. That's at least 6k points he would of got if he came straight to the nba. He retired in his prime in 94,95. That would of been another 5500k points. He retired again in 99,00,01 which he would of got another 6k point's. Jordan would of finished with 49k points if he didn't play 3 years of college. Retire for 2 years in 94,95. Retire again for 3 years when he was still the best player in the game in 98. Think about that. He retired twice while still being the best player in the league by far.

Russell slowed Wilt down tremendously. You know how Wilt average 50 ppg for a season? He scored 35ppg against Bill. Have you seen how much worse the Celtics played without him? Without Bill, the defense was average. With him, they became all time great. That’s even true on offense. How about Wilt? How much did his team eat when he was the focal point? Not that much. He limited his talented teammates. You could say Wilt was Rockets James Harden of his day. Or maybe Russell Westbrook. Statistically incredible, but the stats lie without taking a slightly deeper look. It’s so simplistic to say Bill’s team was supremely better. Give the man his due respect. You can believe Wilt is better, it the arguments against Bill are unfair. Those Celtics players are HoFers BECAUSE of Russell. He elevated them. Wilt didn’t. Bill Simmons, for all his Celtics bias, is right.
