Here's the fund Parker and his fiancé setup, anything you guys can do to help is GREATLY appreciated by our team, we'll be doing the same! gf.me/u/y9x2sk
@P Henry but it is Cleetus' fault that he let him on the skid pad. No way an event like Summernats would let a car like that on their pad. You won't see cars like that on the burnout pad going forward, so obviously he recognizes it was a mistake. Hopefully Parker stays cool about the whole thing.
Poor dude, melted his fucking skin and Cleetus basically said “shit happens”. Not to mention the fact that he had a superspreader event in the middle of COVID, way to go, buddy. Goes to show how these bigger and profitable car channels really don't give a shit as long as they're entertaining people.
Dude for doing this for 4 years and nothing happen that’s crazy don’t worry about anything doing crazy stuff like this accidents happen man don’t beat you self up and don’t even Pay attention to the negative comments
Here’s the best example for anyone blaming you for this I have no idea how anyone can say anything .... no one blamed NASCAR for dale Earnhardt’s death so no one can nore should anyone blame you for his injury all is well
He still would have gotten burnt with a suit on, they don't stop steam too well. We had a guy in fire academy get steamed real bad, even our gear wont stop it.
At 60 years of age and many years of experience since I started working at a reasonably young age, I have a life philosophy. It goes as follows: "I NEVER learn anything from what I do right. I ALWAYS have the opportunity to learn something from what I do wrong. In life there are never any unsurmountable problems. ONLY opportunities for solutions." This has served me well for many years now. The opportunity to implement safety measures is now available.
Safety is everyone's individual responsibility at unsanctioned events like this. If I go to the junk yard and jack myself up it's not the junkyards fault. Let's buck this trend of not taking accountability for anything.
I contend that you have a moral obligation to tell some kid with a cooling system that is right behind him with no firewall separating it that he has to rectify that before he participates because it is obviously dangerous since the kid is obviously too dumb to realize it himself. Still has that teenage mindset; invincibility complex, well that was taken by force after this accident.
@Jacbbryben maybe in the eyes of the law, but in it's most black & white form Cleetus provided the place for people to being their builds and have fun. If you build something and it hurts you, that's on you as a builder or operator.
Parker as a fellow motersports enthusiasts I too am a burn victim. Wish you well and never let anything hold you back from having a blast and revving high. Get well soon and give it hell I do!
You definitely should have a tech in before these events.. if the setup, things or the gears isn't right don't allow peoples to trash everything just for the sake of the fun..that's my pov
I personally think that when you (As a Dirt Bike/Toy Rider) do catwalks, endo’s, “BurnOutZ”, or any kind of stunt, you are signing a “person”/“self” contract with yourself 😝 that this (as a duty/contract) is a SET TO FAIL situation where you (as the stunt man) R 💯 % liable for All Self Inflicted Good Times.
Cleet you would never do this to someone to save money, nobody sees it coming and it's a bunch of YEEYEE until it's not. People didn't understand that you were saving content for content, so you didn't wash away this incident with entertainment. Also factor that 50% of the country thinks the coronavirus event is worse than it is. I've been to more social gatherings, several of my friends "had it" after getting tested, quarantined, felt fine during after and most of my hospitals in CA (SJ is a hotspot) are empty af. Follow your heart and go against the grain if you have to, thats what freedom is, and what our country is all about. The best country on the planet, besides like Australia obviously
Its not your fault Cleetus, Parker did not wear the proper protective suit and equipment he failed to ensure his own safety and set up his car for the competition he was doing.
Saw some sleezball trying to call out Garret about this, the guy signed the paper , accepted the risk, built his own car. Risk free life is boring, dangerous life if excitement we all understand and accept this. It's your self that must protect yourself no one else is to be blamed for your own actions.
Prayers for a full and speedy recovery, I've endured a small area (left forearm) with 2nd and 3rd degree burns....thankfully no skin graft needed....but it was no joke, everything is dandy until that burnt dead skin layer wants to come off 💀 mine was flash burn, but I probably would have rather not done what I did and have that result ever again to be totally honest.
I dont understand how u would be taking any crap on this?? Everyone that participated knows there are risks and at the end of the day if Parker and you are fine why is it anyone else's concern..people like to stick their nose where it doesn't belong
seems like an amazingly well rounded and thoughtful response to the situation in question. not sure how anyone could honestly still have any problems with Cleetus after this. assuming everything he's saying is true. sounds pretty reasonable to me.
Someone with the teenage invincibility mindset. Someone there should have told him he had to do it right to participate, regardless of legal obligation. When you see someone doing something stupid that is a *undue* risk to themselves or others at an event like this you have a moral obligation to tell them to stop.
ONE THING YOU NEED TO INCORPORATE IN YOUR SAFETY MEASURES IS AN OXYGEN MASK FOR YOUR DRIVERS WHO PERFORM BURNOUTS. YOU SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH ON HOW UNHEALTHY IT IS TO BREATHE SMOKE FROM BURNING RUBBER. IT COULD BE A LIABILITY ISSUE.
Sucks that this happened and I hope he has a good recovery... but asking people to pay for your medical bills because you voluntarily did something stupid... I have to draw the line there.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Parker and his family, hope he makes a quick recovery! Cleetus, there's no consequences for someone else's actions, imo. He came out knowing the dangers of what we do! Shit happens!
You guys are awesome keep up the good work thats to bad that people always wanna run there mouths and disrespect you guys sound prepared and are looking into making changes to prevent accidents
Sad to hear about Parker's injuries, we gearheads play in a dangerous arena, the more you do it the more chances there are for something to go wrong. Burns are especially bad because your kidneys get worked overtime because your skin is compromised, as a dialysis patient myself I hope Parker has everything work in his favor, burns are surely bad but if your kidneys give up it's worse, hang in there Parker.
“The best thing you can do is be prepared for it”. Garrett, sure hope you are listening to your own words. At the speeds you have been running you absolutely should be wearing a HANS device. Get one and wear it buddy!
You guys did everything right, had the right personal there to help when needed. Its a little part of the risk you take when going to that level. It happens?!
Coming from myself that got serveraly injured at Hardrock Offroad Park racing our jeep buggie. Nothing more to be said than just like Parker shit happens. Praying for a quick recovery bud and happy to hear saftey improvement s. We did the same the cost of saftey gear is a small price to pay for better protection.
Praying for a full recovery and protection over you and all of your people. Garrett, you're looking a little puffy dude don't let the holidays be too good for you LOL we want to see Ruby break some records!
you are a good dude man and we all know the chances we take when we get into our cars, even driving on the freeway heading to work in the acura 3.2 with them things. parker is an awesome driver and entertainer. you got him help immediately and did everything in your power to sooth his pains. and im sure the go fundme from fans and other drivers will help and parker will no doubt return to mercilessly destroying tires very soon.dont beat yourself up too much man. of course everytime you add another level of safety to your shows thats a good thing. but dont forget how happy you guys make all your fans. we all know you would never hurt anyone on purpose and parker knows what happened and how he will always set his car up a little different from now on.and he will obviously have to take a minute to appreciate how valuable life is and he will probably be a better person for having to go through the hell he first few initial hours must have been.thank you and parker and guys like you that entertain us regular folks and i mean that from the bottom of my heart
this is really unfortunate but Cleeter is in no way at fault this is down to the car simply not being safe we have firewalls for a reason when you cut corners in your build you run the risk of getting hurt there should have been a firewall or SOMETHING between him any anything with the potential to harm him as others have pointed out for ANY future events the typical youtuber-send-it mentality is not longer acceptable I would set hard rules on what is allowed to run any any event at minimum that means the following safety equipment HANS Device, Firewall, Drive Shaft loop,Maby Engine diaper for any event with the possibility to throw rods and oil every ware (Drag races, burnout contests) No hacky fuel systems or other plumbing period this shit is not worth your life
Anyone on the fence - those life flights are expensive AF as will be his treatments. I'm a mechanic of 35+ years and aviation enthusiast for 50; accidents happen no matter how much you plan (and I've been affected by my share). Analyze what went wrong, learn from it and try to prevent it in the future for others whether it's hot rods or airplanes. TG Parker is mostly OK and prognosis is good, best wishes to him and his family!
The irony of this comment is that Dale died because he was not wearing optional safety equipment. Parker has been hospitalized for it wearing optional safety equipment and having optional tech requirements. It sucks, but it's true. Good people die and get seriously hurt because event organizers make things optional. Instead of "Do it for Dale", how about "Learn from Dale"?
Oh man, skin graphs are not fun. His injuries will hurt about 75% less than the skin graph sites. I was in the hospital for over a month after a motorcycle accident, as someone who has broken 14 different bones in my life including my back and skull, the best way I can describe it is what a navy seal wrote in his book who had been shot in the face, had his arm blow off and more, and his exact words were he would take another Ak-47 shot straight to the face before ever getting another skin graph. It’s a pain that is just indescribable, like a red hot piece of cast iron 8 inches wide and 14 inches long searing into your leg 24 hours a day for about a week with zero relief.
everyone is all "its cool bro shit happens" until they get a $90k+ bill from the burn unit. then their lawyer calls you and says shit happens. minimum tech inspection, with some basic level of standards....no more ratty home built cars
The main thing people are pissed about is the absolute zero regard with taking the pandemic seriously and letting a driver go out in shorts and a T-shirt to go do burnouts. When you put events on it is your responsibility to have guidelines and enforce them so drivers and spectators stay safe. GROW UP and take responsibility and don’t just brush it off, someone could have died and people probably will die because of lack of covid precautions.
I started reading an article in The Drive. They were using some rather suggestive language. Stay strong man, and good on you for holding off to get some facts. The wisest man in the room is usually the quietest!
Get well soon Parker!!!! That shit hurts , trust me .. I've burned my face with coolant before luckily wasn't as bad and was self treated but man that shit hurts ! Lesson learned : do not open radiator while hot .....
Get well Parker !!! Safety has generally been a reactive subject. As people get hurt, we react and improve safety. From Dale Sr to Eric Medlin, Safety is constantly evolving. Gas tanks to fuel cells, open face helmets to HANS devices, open cockpits to driver's capsules...contsant evolution. Add some measures and move on. AGAIN...hope Parker heals as painless as possible. Burns suck the worst !!! Keep your head up BROTHER !
Full support here dude. Society may be mad that you held an event. Ultimately it is a person's choice as to where they go and what they do. If they felt they could safely attend any event...then go! If you don't like the fact that people are close to you then don't go. If you can go to the store or school then you can go racing, burn outs, etc. This election infection is real but highly blown out of proportion. GO Cleetus !
Hey Cleetus, I am really glad that you dont let the internet bring you down with all the Corona nonsense going on. Hope you keep up the good work and you keep enjoying every day. Your fans will always love what you do. Dont let anyone dictate what and how you do.
Shit happens is right and your making the right move to up the saftey standards so why talk shit. Hope he heals fast and gets back on the saddle again!!
Iv had a radiator blow up in my face thankfully the coolant wasn’t this hot but I need get hot water into my eyes luckily my partner and friends acted quickly at got me to the ambulance staff I lost sight for a few hours and it fucking hurt hopefully Parker comes back stronger then ever
I will say one thing burns are not a joke it’s the worst pain I felt in my life I got 3rd degree burns on both of my legs and had 2 surgeries and the skin graph is the worst part you are in my prayers Parker
I’m old enough to have witnessed the carnage and injuries of clutch explosions without containment scattershield cans. All race car safety equipment requirements have come at the cost of injury and death. There is a reason for hose and fitting requirements. I cannot believe that a car was allowed to run with a radiator mounted behind the driver with ordinary hose and clamps. Parker will probably not be home in 5 or 6 days if he is receiving skin grafts. Best wishes for a complete recovery.
Even though everyone wants to complain he should have been wearing a fire suit yes that should have been the case but it was burning coolant and fire suits aren’t waterproof and coolant would have gone down his neck to his back either way he would’ve gotten hurt it’s racing shit happensbut it’s no hillbilly event ems and fire crews were there at the event and he stopped the event until he knew Parker wasn’t going to die that night
Things do happen and saftey is where 50% of the money is for us. We enjoy the content and looking forward to attending events in the future. As for Parker, God speed 🙏. Burns are zero fun and you are a champion in my book! Prayers on a quick recovery.
Yeah. If he had some sort of plexiglass or something behind his seat it would have saved him. But whose to say that would be where it broke. Things happen.
Parker said it right when he said shit happens cleet. You as well as most people know that vehicles can be unpredictable at times. I pray that Parker recovers quickly and cleeter you will rise above this. We all love what you do screw all these haters.
We are praying over here Garrett 🙏. And the haters can suck a big fat one, you don't start bashing Garrett as hes done everything in hes power to make everything right! Hes gone above and beyond for Parker. Love ya brother keep doing what your doing!
