I've only been to a casino twice in my life: once because one of my favorite bands was playing a concert there and once because a friend of a friend was having a birthday party there. Here is all of the gambling I did there: There was a machine where you put in a dollar and then it decided whether or not to give you more money. So, I put in a dollar and it decided to pay out $1.10, a total profit of 10 cents. That was enough for me. My girlfriend at the time was totally opposed to even that much gambling, so I put in a dollar "for her" so that she could have the experience without gambling herself. The machine paid out $1.25, a profit of 25 cents. And, for someone who was totally opposed to gambling, she was very determined to get those 25 cents from me. Also, kids, if you want to know what the 1970s were like, go to a casino. People are allowed to smoke in a casino. OMG, it's horrible. Now, just imagine that people could smoke anywhere (even on planes!) and you'd know how horrible it was back in the old days.

This is crazy. I've been gambling playing roulette for a month now, always doing it like the guy in 4:47 mentions. And I've been fortunate to make it profit and buy a shit ton of plants for my mother's garden. I have a bankroll built entirely out of casino earnings and I only play with that, making it last as much as I can without having to spend any more money. The fun part for me is the maths and strats behind it all. It is fun indeed. However, JPvid recommended me this video on a positive colorful note, but it also showed me a complete dark video touching the same subject with reddit people telling their worst casino stories that give you the creeps. I observe the contrast between both takes on the same subject and it's crazy how the casino can spark a lot of positive and negative feelings. If you are gonna gamble, take the 4:47 guy advice. If you don't do it, then you are not fit to play at all.

As somebody who noticed right away at 18 that I was prone to gambling addiction when I started having unhealthy thoughts at the scratchoff machine, you did a really good job portraying it. All the excuses and convincing yourself, it can become a really vicious cycle, especially when you use your debt as your new excuse for gambling cuz you gotta get outta debt somehow right? Luckily I had the self awareness and stepped back from it at 18 when I realized how much those scratch offs sink their hooks into me. I'm my mid 20s, and I've still never stepped foot inside a casino
Good thing to see people telling their stories! Congratulations on your progress.

@@ceciliacardoso4331 I wouldn't really call it progress as much as cutting it off before it became a real problem. I never let it get out of control. I only actually gambled for like 6 months, and it was never bad, but the amount I'd spend slowly increased month after month. Then the irrational "cmon I'm so close to a big hit, I can't stop now or somebody else is gunna get my jackpot" thoughts started getting stronger and more compelling, which made me realize that I'm just not the kind of person who can enjoy gambling casually. My best advice is to just know yourself as well as you possibly can, and don't lie to yourself. Then you can spot issues before they become serious

This is a good video. I have a very odd relationship with gambling. I don't even need the money as we are doing fine, but I absolutely get the rush and adrenaline when I play. So I have the unique situation where I sometimes talk myself out of being excited about it - for example, on the way to the casino, I would say to myself, "Scott - let's say you win $5k, which as you know, is unlikely anyway.... what changes? You put it in the bank, and forget about it. What if you won $100k, which is many more times unlikely - how does your life change really? In fact, let's say you win $100M.... ok great, you can definitely retire which is nice - but you just buy a bigger house and faster car? While that might be nice, is it *really* worth risking money to have the VERY VERY unlikely chance of even winning ANYTHING let alone 100M?". I then stop and say oh just shut up Scott, it's fun! But i think this is true for most people, it's not really life changing until it gets reallllllly high, but as we all know, that rarely happens to anyone, and you are more likely to be broke in the end. Risk vs reward I suppose!

I like the Kakegurui reference. Kakegurui is an anime about gambling and "Let's get our gambling freak on!" (in Japanese English "Kakegurui masho!") is said by the main character jabami yumeko. I think that's cool that TheOdd1sOut included that!

I love to see James' animation improve so much! Also, the design for the snake devil is awesome! 3:56
Ikr, that snake looks so much like a Disney villain
i doubt he animated that his team probably did
