The Boston Celtics mistake was firing Udoka. He must have hit the wrong execs ex. Ruin a really good up and coming team over that. It's sad how evolution works. In The NBA great coaching is probably more vital than in any pro sport. An example is Eric Spoleltra.

If Joe Mazzulla is the coach in 2023-2024 the Celtics clearly have no intention of improving. Getting rid of Mazzulla is easy replace him with someone like Kenny Atkinson or Monty Brown.

they need an elite PG cuz smart won't cut it! the offense must be run through a guy who can orchestrate and doesn't make turnovers..you can't run your offense through Tatum cuz he is just a scorer and that's it and he and jb are prone to turnovers which is the main problem with this team.

I dont think you need that though Boston has a lot of nice players. White, Brogdan, Williams, Horford, Pritchard and Grant Williams are all nice players you need a star or an emerging star to soak up those Brown minutes. The only trade I'd do where it's not a star in return is JB for Maxey + Harris + picks but if it's not for an emerging young guy and a productive role player like Maxey and Harris I'm not trading Brown unless it's for a superstar in the same tier of player as him

If you're a $1B company, do you hire an inexperienced CEO to run your org? Use that same analogy, and apply it to the Celtics. They'll have to commit $600M to two guys (assuming Brown and Tatum get supermax'd) and then another $200-300M on rounding out a roster. I get that the Udoka situation happened so late in the summer and they couldn't hire someone really good at that time. But, do you give an obviously overmatched coach another season to figure things out or hire a championship coach after the season (ie. Nurse, Buldenhozer, Monty, Vogel). I think there is too money and potential time wasted at risk to "hope" Mazzulla will figure it out.

The coach is not the CEO. The Celtics CEO is Wyc Grousbeck. Brad Stevens is the President of Basketball Operations and he is incharge of the Head Coach.

that's not how the calculation works. Those players with their contracts remain assets / investments. It's not like Boston pays the money and it's gone. They invest it and the chance of complete loss is basically zero.

European brain means better skills in young years in terms of learning to understand being a member of a t e a m. Basketball is t e a m sports. In US it is superstar driven business, it isn't sports in reality, every NBA player hates the amount of 82 regular season games, losing in rs is absolutely no problem, tanking all over the place, load management as well, podcasts of players right after the game, narcissistic players all over the place, "big markets" reign in the media, crazy media craving for story lines 24/7, disrespecting "small markets" 24/7, talking about lakers and LeBron every single minute, NBA is business at first; it is about goat conversation, legacy of superstars and other bs, which is completely irrelevant in reality. It is a lot of fake and hype all over the place. In europe Basketball is team sports, basketball fans in US can't afford tickets, it's all about celebrities in the stands. In Europe fans live and die with their teams (maybe knicks fans are similar, but that's all). In europe franchise players always take accountability for anything; in comparison to that: take a look at the antics of "future face of the league" , who is gun waiving, beating and threatening minors and does other serious stuff. In europe star players take care of their team members; this is european brain. I think Wembanyamas soft skills today are way better than Draymond Green's will ever be. Wembanyama was well educated in france and he will fit in NBA rosters quite well; he will stay humble like Jokic and Giannis snd he will stay away from social media, i guess. It's about making adjustments and winning in europe. It's no racist stuff to talk about "european brain", it's a question of attitude, sportsmanship and team spirit, which(except Spurs, Heat, Nuggets, Bucks) in the NBA completely gone.

@Marco Agree on all except Wemba, he is Shawn Bradley/ Manute Bol type of player pretending to be gard. Skipping season in Euroleague and playing 3 games for week, to pump numbers in French championship once a week. When he played Euroleague he averaged 6points on 30% from three and 37% from field. AD would be steel man comparing to him, just don't see him playing more then 2 healthy season, and players over 7'5" don't come back from injury. I would trade him for future picks but he won't cause NBA is circus where Zion is making more money sitting on the bench then 99% of league.

You don’t understand how basketball contracts work. Celtics can pay him way more than anyone else can and a player can’t be traded until one year after they sign a contract

@Nevets I'm talking about long term they both get the supermax which combined is close to 600mil for both and they will not be able to sustain that over a period of time. To me they have peaked as players who play together and I think brown wants to be the man on another team.
